This beautiful Magnolia ring is from the Le Grand Jeu collection that was inspired by the mystics, artists and writers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Janja took her inspiration from the motives of the Law of Seven, and she did what does best. She took something mysterious, hidden and dark and turned it into a fragile flower that sits perfectly on a hand. The Magnolia flower symbolises feminine delicacy, purity and fragility, strength and nobility all at once. In Japanese mythology, the Magnolia flower referred to femininity as a tree with deep and solid roots which resists much and, on the other hand, blooms with the most fragile white blossoms, which fall away even in the slightest breeze.

Janja Prokić

Janja is – without a doubt – one of the most original jewellery makers out there. She was born in Belgrade, Serbia, but moved to Prague when she was nine and later graduated from a number of local art schools.

She created her first jewellery line in 2011 and got nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award right away. Beginner’s luck, you think? Not in the slightest. Several nominations followed as well as two awards for the Jewellery designer of the year – in 2014 and 2018.

There is a good reason for all the recognition – Janja’s style is unusually feminine, often inspired by nature. It is minimalistic in its form but rich in meaning. Each piece is a reaction to something that happened to her, which is why she calls her collections ‘diaries’. We can only hope she will keep writing them!
