Designed by Markéta Kalivodová and Richard Švejda from the Czech studio Vobouch, this piece showcases a rather atypical mix of materials. By combining fine porcelain with concrete, the duo of designers created an item, which exposes the narrative of its own creation – this is because the concrete part of this piece copies the shape of the mold used during the process of its making. This unique designer object is truly a great asset to any modern interior and can also be displayed as fully-fledged sculptural work. Choose between matte black and white porcelain and make this unique piece yours.

Vobouch

Softness meets roughness

Two young designers, Markéta Kalivodová and Richard Švejda, joined their forces (and amazing talents) to create VOBOUCH, a studio dedicated to combining porcelain with all kinds of curious materials. And when we say curious, we mean it – their creations are unexpected in every way.

Who would’ve thought that mixing porcelain with concrete would result in a beautiful (warning: heavy!) designer vase? Or that three pieces of fine porcelain strapped with a leather belt could be so eye-catching? We certainly wouldn’t expect any of that.

It is clear the designing duo doesn’t hold back – and the boldness pays off! Their BETON (Czech for ‘concrete’) collection was nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award and won the Kia Czech Design Week Award in 2015. Kudos!
