"Can You Hear Me Now?" painting

“Can You Hear Me Now?” is an ironic question on the back of the woman being asked in the form of an airplane ad. There are two layers of composition on this painting - frontal layer and back layers. In the frontal layer the woman elegantly holds her hand next to her ear on one side symbolising attention and on the other side symbolising boredom. She is soaking in the pool wearing fine jewellery. There are other symbols such as a hand in a leather glove smoking red lipstick, and a foot wearing red bottom heels. The woman looks effortless unless the viewer starts thinking, are these her hand and foot? This whole composition aims to convey the artificiality of the subject who listens or not really. On the back layer there is an airplane carrying the message “Can you hear me now?” above the sea where supposedly there is a shore with a palm. In the end the horizon is more stable and realistic and authentic in all its nature than the frontal layer. The author’s intention is to make the viewer think do we really listen and hear each other in everyday’s communication where there are boundaries of technology and layers of artificiality we go through in order to stay connected.
